Firefighter Jesse Gerhard

Jesse Gerhard died on February 16, 2022, at 33 years old, after a medical episode at his firehouse the day after operating at a two-alarm fire on Beach Channel Drive in Far Rockaway. He was the 1,156th member of the FDNY to die in the line of duty.
He joined the FDNY as an EMT in 2014, entered the Fire Academy in December 2017, and was assigned to Engine 264 before transferring to Ladder 134 in March 2020. He joined the Islip Fire Department at 18. His grandfather was a firefighter too.
